31 January, 2017 – The President of the Football Federation of Kosovo, Fadil Vokrri received today in a meeting the first Kosovo referees who were included in the list of FIFA referees, Genc Nuza as a main referee, two side referees, Bujar Selimaj and Fatlum Berisha, as well as Lumturije Muhadri in the women’s competition and Besart Ismajli and Besar Beqiri in futsal. On this occasion, Vokrri handed over FIFA emblems dedicated to these referees and all other associated referee equipment. The FFK Secretary General, Eroll Salihu, the Head of Referees Committee, Përparim Hasani, and the Administrator Adem Çollakaj were present in this meeting.
President Vokrri prasied the referees on this achievement since they are going to be the first referes from Kosovo who are going to hold FIFA emblems. “Like the rest of us who represent Kosovo, you have an obligation and responsibility topresent us in the best way possible. You have been distinguished with the dispensation of justice in our championship andthis allowed you to be chosen to get the international call, so I hope you are going to represent us in the international arena in the best and fairest possible way, because with your successes, you will open paths to your colleagues, in order for us not to remain only with you, but also have other referees who would penetrate into the international arena”, saidamong other things Vokrri.
Concerning the obstructions that Spain has put against the referee Genc Nuza, who was banned from entering this country to attend the tests organized by FIFA, Vokrri said that this is more a political issue because Spain has not recognized Kosovo as an independent country yet. However, he is going to discuss this issue again with UEFA officials during this week in order not to have such obstacles in the future.
