15 September 2017 – Despite the good game and a decent performance, footballers of women U-19 National Team of Kosovo suffered defeat with 2:0 from an extraordinary strong national team of Iceland that also defeated the national team of Montenegro in the first match with 7:0. Our girls were equal during the whole match, ball possession, circulated and controlled the ball well, successfully defended but also attacked fiercely. However, lack of experience and insufficient physical preparation made them fail in the end. It should be noted that the game of Icelandic footballers was very harsh and as a consequence, the medical team had a lot of work to do. This is not discouraging at all for a team under construction and that is making first steps in the international arena which needs a little time and patience to success.
The Icelandic footballers hit the crossbar in the 15th minute while they took the lead in the 33rd minute through Soleveig Johanesdottir, which led to the end of the first half. The second half too started with balanced strength whereas the Icelandic footballers hit the bar in the 53rd minute. When the end of the match was approaching, the Icelandic footballers used our team’s frustration and carelessness and scored in the 85th minute to 2:0 closing the match with this score.
Mr. Ruzhdi Statovci, Head of the Albanian Football Association for Germany (AFAG) accompanied by his associates Miftar Dragidella and Enver Muzliukaj was present in this match who were very happy with the performance of our female footballers. Kosovo’s National Team will play next match against Montenegro on 18 September.
After the match they said:
Kushtrim Munishi, Head Coach
I am very satisfied with the performance of our footballers. I praise them for such a great commitment and dedication. I can say we were equal but sometimes the luck must be in your side as well. However, the draw would have been a more realistic score. It is up to us to work much harder in the coming matches.
