25 November 2017 – Footballers of U17 National Team of Kosovo in the match for the third place within the “2017 Mercedes Benz Aegean Cup U-16” Tournament in Izmir of Turkey were defeated today by Russia with 0:1. It seems that luck turned its back to our boys as they dominated the match and created a few chances to score. However, in the end, Russia benefited from a single chance and won with a minimum score. It seems that even the busy schedule of matches has made itself, but also the fourth place in this great tournament for a new, unexperienced national team such as Kosovo, is not to be underestimated and also commending our boys for their winning and combatant spirit. Besnik Kollari, after the match, said: “When you lose a match, you cannot be satisfied having into consideration that our players got the most out of the game and prevailed. The Russians had a single chance and turned it into a winning goal. It was a very busy schedule. Four matches and two training sessions in just five days. It is very difficult to do so. However, in general I am happy with the commitment and performance of our players. They need as many matches to gain experience. I believe that these players will advance and have a future.”
