1 May 2018 – With the motto “One Ball, One World”, the activity “The Ball 2018” was held today in the premises of the new building of the Municipality of Prishtina, an event co-organized by the Football Federation of Kosovo, “Spirit of Football”, “Friedrich Ebert Stiftung”, “Cross Cultural Project Association” and “Football Unites Nations”. Participants in this event were the FFK President, Fadil Vokrri, Mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti, Frank Hantke from FES and Andrew Aris from FUN. This event was organized for the first time in Kosovo, while the journey of this ball was launched on 25 March in London, while after having moved to several European countries it has also come to Kosovo to continue then in other countries and to finish in June in Russia, where the World Cup 2018 will be held. Among the personalities that have signed this ball are the President of Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier, then the Liverpool Coach, Jurgen Klopp and many other well-known personalities.
In his speech to the audience at this event, President Fadil Vokrri highlighted the great role this ball and the football game have in the unity of peoples indiscriminately, in order to achieve peace, understanding and love between them. “Kosovo and the Football Federation of Kosovo feel very honored to have given the opportunity to our men and women players to be part of this project and the signing of the ball in addition to great political and sports figures, to give the blessing to this ball which will reach the biggest sports event – the World Football Championship ‘Russia 2018’. Regardless how symbolic the signatures are, they in themselves speak of a fact that the state of Kosovo is now present everywhere in the world and thus the sports spirit of the athletes of Kosovo is there with everyone” President Vokrri said. At the end of this event was also the signature of the ball by President Fadil Vokrri, Mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti, representative of FES, Frank Hantke, as well as by the Kosovo National football player – women, Edona Kryeziu and the player of U21 National Team of Kosovo, Mirlind Daku who will be the icon of this project for Kosovo. Other activities within this project during the next two days will be held in Pristina.
