5 June 2022 – The National Team of Kosovo lost to Greece in the match of the second round of Group 2 in League C of the Nations League. The match took place on Sunday evening in a great atmosphere in the crowded Fadil Vokrri stadium but in the end the result was disappointing, 0: 1 in favour of the Hellenic national team. Dardanians started the match well and put pressure on the opponent but Zeneli and Muriqi failed to score. Then the Greeks managed to balance the game and in the 36th minute to take the lead. It was the Greek captain, Tassos Bakasetas who defeated the goalkeeper Arijanet Muriq with a strong shot from distance. Kosovo entered the second half again with an offensive game in an attempt to equalize but did not achieve the goal. Amir Rrahmani had the best chance with a header but it was stopped by the Greek goalkeeper. Fidan Aliti was sent off in the 76th minute after the second yellow card and thus things became even more difficult. The advantage in the result and also the numerical advantage on the field enabled Greece to play without pressure and significantly reduce the pace of the game, not allowing our players to almost never risk the goal. That this was not the night of the Dardanians was proved at the very end when the goalkeeper Muriq was directly punished with a red card when he played with his hand outside the 16-meter area, saving the second goal. For Greece, this was the second win against Kosovo in the five matches so far, as three of them ended in a draw. Meanwhile, for the Greeks this was the second win in this edition of the Nations League as three days ago they defeated Northern Ireland and now lead the group with 6 points, while Kosovo remains second with 3 points. Northern Ireland and Cyprus have 1 point each, because in today’s match they played a draw 0: 0. Kosovo will play the next match with Northern Ireland on 9 June in “Fadil Vokrri”.
