9 October 2021 – The National Team of Kosovo lost 3:0 in a duel with Sweden, in the match played on Saturday evening, within the qualifications for the Qatar 2022 World Cup at the “Friends Arena” stadium in Solna – Stockholm. The Dardanians had the support of a large number of our compatriots who had traveled to Stockholm from various cities of Sweden but also other European countries. The Swedes took the lead in the 29th minute from the penalty awarded with the help of VAR, which was scored by Emil Forsberg. Elbasan Rashani had the best chance in the first half for Kosovo but he was not accurate. Dardanians started the second half better and were persistent in search of the equalizer. Muriqi even managed to score but the goal was not accepted due to the offside position. Then Zymer Bytyqi also had a good chance but his shot was stopped by goalkeeper Olsen. In the period when the Dardanians were on the offensive, the Swedes managed to find the second goal. This time, Alexander Isak scored in the 62nd minute with a shot from distance while the final score was sealed by Robert Quaison in the 79th minute. After this victory, Sweden holds the second place in Group B, with 12 points, while Kosovo remains in the fourth place with 4 points. Kosovo will play its next match on Tuesday at the Fadil Vokrri stadium against Georgia.
