September 12, 2023 – The Kosovo national team suffered a defeat against Romania with a score of 2:0 in the match held at the “Arena Nationala” in Bucharest, lasting for about three hours. The main reason for this was the hostile home crowd that severely provoked the Dardanian team in the 18th minute, displaying a banner reading “Kosovo is Serbia.” As a result, the match didn’t resume for a full 50 minutes. After the restart, the game didn’t go well for the Dardanians, as Vedat Muriqi received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 42nd minute. Despite playing with one player down, our team resisted the continuous attacks from the hosts until the 83rd minute. In fact, in the 59th minute, Arijanet Muric managed to save a penalty taken by Nicolae Stanciu. However, the Romanians continued to press toward our goal, taking advantage of the numerical superiority on the field, and in the 83rd minute, they broke the deadlock with a goal scored by Stanciu. After this goal, the Dardanians launched an offensive in search of an equalizer. Florian Loshaj had a great opportunity, but his shot was saved by the home goalkeeper. In additional time, the Romanians scored again through Valentin Mihaila, sealing the final score at 2:0. Now, Romania has 12 points, while Kosovo remains with 4 points in the standings.
